Paradise flycatcher (Terpsiphone
viridis)
Medium sized flycatcher with greenish/black head, breast and throat
grey. Tail and upperparts orange. The female has similar colouring
but with a short tail. Distributed from south of the Sahara to the
cape. The paradise flycatcher is a common intra Africa migrant.
Likes savanna bushveld and gardens. Feeds on insects.
Nests are built of grass, roots and bark bound together by spiders
webs. The nest is cup shaped in the fork of a tree. The chicks are
fed by the parents for at least a week after they leave the nest.
