Water Monitor (Varanus niloticus)

The Water Monitor grows to be the largest African lizard. The Water Monitor's tail is longer than its body.

Its head is more flattened than the Rock Monitor, which has a bulbous nose.

The Water Monitor feeds along rivers and streams, feeding on frogs, small fish and crabs and frogs.

It lays about 40 eggs in a termite mound. The eggs hatch in about six months.
