Pictures of Peeling-bark Ochna tree (Ochna pulchra) No. 483
pictures of peeling-bark ochna tree The Peeling-bark Ochna is deciduous, growing
up to 7 metres tall in open woodland. The bark
is pale grey rough near the base of the tree trunk.
The bark peels off higher up the tree revealing
a smooth creamy underbark. The seeds yield an
oil used by Bushmen of the Kalahari to oil their
hair.
It is said that a piece of root carried on one's
person, brings good luck to hunters. The wood
is cracks and is of little use. The oil is said to
be poisonous.
