Deciduous tree, growing up to 6 metres tall usually on rocky hillsides. The leaves are aromatic and the fruit, high in vitamin c, even though unpleasantly scented, is edible.
This tree is also known as the smelly-berry vitex.

The flowers occur in branched axiliary heads.
The 2-lipped flowers are pale blue to mauve in colour. The ovary is hairless
at the apex.
